Colombia is one of the first Latin American countries to ban the import, export, manufacture and commercialization of cosmetic products tested on animals. This represents a major win for animals, however, the use of animals for medical experimentation has increased considerably. This brings concerns since in Colombia the 3Rs research method (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement.) is still precarious and imprecise and therefore it is unclear if the research is being appropriately done and if animal welfare and wellbeing is being guaranteed.
What do we want to achieve?
- An increase in investment in animal-free research methods
- Promote the 3Rs research methods
- Develop ethical, scientific and technical guidelines
We need your help to move forward to animal-free science in Colombia. If you are interested in participating or supporting the endeavor of this working group please get in touch with us
