SOS Animals Colombia is policy-oriented non-profit-organisation that gathers eight animal welfare and vegan organisations based in Colombia… and we are growing! The organisation supports the work and activities the NGOs and other stakeholders are doing to improve the living conditions of animals in Colombia.

SOS Animals Colombia seeks to create an national and international network of animal welfare advocates. It aims at potentialising the work of NGOs, activists, politicians and research centers from Colombia, looking at specifically establishing links among them and with well-known international animal welfare and environmental organisations.

Associate Partner (voluntary-basis position)

SOS Animals Associate Partner with focus on law and public policy is horizontal position responsible for a range of activities including project development, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as providing support to Partners and Members. 

The Associate Partner also leads, with the director, the development of the political agenda, including mapping relevant Colombian and international stakeholders. It is expected, the associated partner reviews current legislation and horizon scans public policy in the sector, beside assisting with other organisational priorities.

The position is based out of her/his home office in Colombia or anywhere in Europe.

Tasks

  1. To handle the day-to-day activities (send emails, research, schedule meeting)
  2. To coordinate the organisation of working groups 
  3. To participate in weekly meetings with members and maintain the confidentiality of the members’ information
  4. To maintain professional relationship with the members and resolve their legal queries at the earliest

In addition to these responsibilities he/she is also involved in performing other duties which are as follows:

  • He/she draft important correspondence
  • He/she organises and schedules internal and external meetings
  • He/she should keep him/herself updated with the work of the different working groups
  • He/she should be able to identify new members and partners
  • He/she should be able to support the fundraising strategy

Educational Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree or other studies ideally in law, political science, international relations, public policy or other related fields. 

Skills Required

  • Interest in animal welfare 
  • He/she should share the organisation’s values  
  • Exceptional communication and networking skills
  • A hands-on professional with strong leadership skills 
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, written and spoken
  • Excellent at prioritising tasks, time management and organisational skills
  • Should have an ability to lead a team, supervise, given instructions and encourage colleagues
  • He/she is expected to mediate when there are disagreements between members and find consensus

Desired for the role 

  • Knowledge of animal law or willing to learn
  • Fluent in French and/or Dutch 
  • Other EU languages are a plus
  • Experience working in the animal welfare sector   
  • Entrepreneurial skills

Associate Partner (voluntary-basis position)

SOS Animals Associate Partner with focus on project management is a horizontal position responsible for a range of activities including project development, administration, monitoring and evaluation, as well as providing support to partners and members. 

The Associate Partner also assists in developing the public affairs strategy, including stakeholders mapping. It is expected to also support the development of SOS Animals’ fundraising strategypreparing proposals, handle grant and funding processes, write progress reports, and assist with other organisational priorities.

The position is based out of her/his home office anywhere in Europe, ideally in Belgium.

Tasks

  1. Identify grants and funding opportunities
  2. Lead grant processes
  3. Handle the day-to-day activities (send emails, schedule meetings, desk research)
  4. Coordinate public affairs meetings with members
  5. Support the fundraising strategy

In addition to these responsibilities he/she is also involved in performing other duties which are as follows:

  • He/she should keep him/herself updated with the work of the different working groups

Educational Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree ideally in administration, management, finances, economy or other related fields. 

Skills Required

  • Interest in animal welfare 
  • He/she should share the organisation’s values  
  • Project management or finances background
  • A hands-on professional with strong leadership skills 
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Excellent at prioritising tasks, time management and organisational skills
  • Should have an ability to lead a team, give instructions and encourage colleagues

Desired for the role 

  • Fluent in French or Dutch is a plus
  • Experience managing grants
  • Knowledge of Spanish or other EU languages
  • Experience working in the animal welfare sector   
  • Entrepreneurial skills

Communication and Public Affairs Manager (voluntary-basis position)

SOS Animals Communication Manager is a part time position responsible for a range of activities including the implementation of the communication strategy, monitoring, and evaluation of the organisation’s communication goals as well as providing communication support to SOS Animals partners and members. 

The Communication and Public Affairs Officer also assists in the implementation of the public affairs strategy, including getting in contact with relevant Colombian and international key media, designing key messages and putting into place strategic campaigns. The position reports to the Communication and Public Affairs Manager and the Director and is based out of her/his home office.

Tasks

  1. To handle the day-to-day communication activities (create content for the website, manage communication channels, draft press releases, etc)
  2. Participate in SOS Animals working groups when relevant to communication activities
  3. To participate in weekly meetings with SAC members and maintain the confidentiality of the members’ information
  4. To maintain professional relationship with the members and resolve their queries at the earliest

In addition to these responsibilities he/she is also involved in performing other duties which are as follows:

  • He/she supports the Communication and Public Affairs Manager in increasing the visibility of the organisation and achieve the goals of the communication and public affairs strategy
  • He/she organises, fixes and schedules meetings with other communication managers
  • He/she should keep him/herself updated with the latest developments in the animal welfare areas in Colombia and abroad 
  • He/she should be able to support the communication of the fundraising campaigns

Educational Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree ideally in communication, graphic design, journalism, political science, other related fields. 

Skills Required

  • Experience managing digital communication tool and channels
  • Experience creating content and conveying complex news and messages in an engaging way
  • Experience in graphic design, using tools such as canvas, adobe package etc
  • Experience in digital communication and useful SEO tools (paid advertising, analytics, crawling etc)
  • Interest in animal welfare 
  • He/she should share the organisation’s values  
  • Exceptional communication and networking skills
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, written and spoken
  • Excellent at prioritising tasks, time management and organisational skills
  • Should have an ability to work in a team and follow the given instructions and procedures
  • He/she is expected to mediate when there are disagreements between members and find consensus

Desired for the role 

  • Experience working in the animal welfare sector   
  • Experience creating videos, podcasts and more complex communication material
  • Fluent in French and/or Dutch
